How We Work

Whether it is a prestigious office building, a string of casual cafes or a white tablecloth restaurant, our designers hum the Pilato & Counts mantra “On time, on budget, but above all; on strategy.”

You see, we are different than most design firms, because we are not out to build edifices to our own aesthetic values. We focus on the strategic goals and objectives that support the project at hand. We seamlessly fuse architectural context, geographical/cultural influence, and our clients (not our own) brand oriented aesthetic sensibilities. Simply put; our goal is to help you achieve yours.

While we are not the lowest priced firm (nor the highest by far), what we do promise is responsible stewardship of your budget, and the ability to stretch every portion of it to deliver the most we can for our collective success. For example, where we can, we specify local, sustainable materials, often recycling and reusing available resources. This keeps costs in line and lowers our carbon footprint. (We call that a win/win.)

George Nelson said “Design is a response to social change.” so, as we do well, we also do good. Pilato and Counts supports many of Hampton Roads’ service outreach organizations such as The Norfolk S.P.C.A., Dressed for Success, Hope House Foundation and For Kids.
